Rain, rain, go away

I can't believe how much it has rained here these last few months, it's crazy! I had big summer plans of spending lazy afternoons in the pool & taking Adam to the different water parks around here. By the end of June, I thought I'd be golden brown! :) But, that hasn't been the case. We've been spending our time inside, reading books, coloring, watching the Wiggles, playing with cars & looking out the window at the rain. I'm not complaining, I was expecting to be miserably hot all summer, so at least that hasn't been so bad..yet! I have a feeling there are some 100 degrees waiting for me, just around the corner, if the rain ever goes away!

OUCH!!

Today I took Adam to my parents house so they could watch him while I went to my dr. appointment. Before I left, Adam was running to show Papa something and he hit his head REALLY hard on the edge of their closet door. It made a huge bump on his forehead. He cried & cried & would not let me put ice on it because it was "really, really cold." Really I think he was more upset about the ice than the injury, but either way, it was very sad. He was still really upset & didn't want me to leave, so he & mom joined me for my dr. appointment! Everything was fine there. For those of you playing the guessing game- Mamaw :), the heartbeat was 141. When we left there, we had to go get ice cream for the injured boy & his pregnant mommy!

Counting down to vacation...

This weekend we are taking our first family vacation. We have traveled to visit family & friends, but this is the first time we've gone somewhere together just for FUN! We're going to San Antonio to take Adam to Sea World. We'll visit the Riverwalk while we're there too & whatever else sounds like fun once we get there! We saw a Sea World commercial yesterday & have been talking to Adam about all the ocean/sea animals he can expect to see there. It should be lots of fun, we're hoping the weather is nice! Until then we are having kind of a strange week, Jacob is working a later shift at work, so he's home with us in the mornings, then gone until after Adam goes to bed. It's only for a few days though, then VACATION!!!

My favorite 2 year old

For those of you who haven't seen Adam in a while, and the rest of you who just want to read about how cute he is, here are some fun facts about my little man now that he is 2!

• He's a chatterbox- the boy is a talker, he has a huge vocabulary that literally grows everyday. It just amazes me to watch how his language develops.
• He's very smart & curious about the world around him- he's always asking questions & really comprehends a lot. He can name tons of animals & can count to 6 (well technically he couns to 9, but he leaves out 7 & 8!). He's still working on letters but he knows they are all part of the "ABCD's."
• His favorite foods are "fri-fries" and "copcorn"
• He loves books, which makes his mother, the teacher, very happy, even though he really likes it best when Daddy reads.
• He loves music- singing, drumming on everything (just like Daddy), and especially the WIGGLES!
• He's very attatched to his bear "B"
• He's just a little sweetie, he's a nice boy & is going to be a great big brother!

Party Time

Last month Adam turned 2! It's crazy to think of how quickly these two years have flown by! He had a cowboy birthday party at the park. Lots of family & friends were there to celelbrate with us. We had a visit from a rodeo clown (aka-grandma)- she played some games & danced with the kids. Aunt Jenny made a very cute & delicious cowboy cake. Adam got lots of fun gifts & had a great day with his friends! Here are a few pics!

Starting a blog

With a new little one on the way, I thought this would be a fun way to keep in touch, share pictures and let our family & friends what is going on in the life of the Garrett Family. We'll see how I do at keeping up with it!
